Hot Summer Hearts Guidelines

Our first swap is Hot Summer Hearts. Participants are Robin, Sherri, Pam, Susan, Carolyn, Candi, Moira, and Nancy.

Here are the details:

  • You will make sets of six blocks, keeping one, and sending five. All blocks in a set do not have to be the same. Two sets are encouraged, but one set is permitted. We might even decide to do three sets as we move along on this.

  • Background will be white or WOW. Hearts will be any shade of yellow, orange, or pink -- sizzling summer sunset shades, y'know. Batiks and hand-dyes are especially nice. I think 30s would not work well. Cut background at 10" and leave a 1" margin all the way around -- this way everyone can cut all her blocks to 9-1/2" herself.

  • One heart, two hearts, multiple hearts -- doesn't matter! No specific pattern! May have something else in the block, if you like.

  • Method: Pieced hearts. Appliqued hearts: traditional applique, needleturn, blocks bonded and hand-buttonholed or machine-buttonholed.

  • Mail by September 11 to the address that you have been given. Send SASE. Don't put each block in a separate baggie please -- they are too slippery to swap when packaged that way!

  • Post to the blog when you have mailed.

  • Blocks will be swapped out when all have been received.
